A Creative Approach to Reading Tarot

Oct 16, 23, 30 & Nov 6, 10am-noon (Eastern), 2022

This course was inspired by requests for a tarot workshop by readers of my Substack newsletter, If It's Alive, Feed It, where I have been writing in response to the deck one card at a time. Drawing on my perspective as a writer and artist, I'll share how I developed my relationship to this symbol system as we explore the cards and their long, strange history. The workshop will feature lectures, Q&A sessions, and practical exercises designed to support you as you continue to build confidence and deepen your own practice working with image and story. We will meet as a group live via Zoom on four Sundays, but each class will be recorded and available to watch at your own pace. Appropriate for all skill levels and students may use whichever deck they prefer.

Why take this class?

You want to take a deep-dive into the cards with an experienced practitioner who has been working with the tarot since earliest childhood.

You're curious to hear how my perspective as a poet and writer has informed my journey with this 500-plus-year-old symbol system.

You are interested in the historical context of the cards and a range of approaches and correspondences.

You want to receive practical exercises for developing your own access points to each of these 78 channels.

You want to explore the use of tarot as a tool for intuitive, imaginative, and creative encounters with the mysterious, the numinous, the strange.
